RACHEL NEWTON

Singer and harpist Rachel Newton specialises in interpreting traditional folk songs in both English and Gaelic as well as writing and arranging her own music. Rachel plays fiddle and viola in addition to harp, and works across a range of performance platforms including theatre and storytelling. RACHEL WALKER

Rachel Walker is a singer, songwriter, arranger and educator based in the heart of Lochaber in Scotland’s beautiful West Highlands. At home with both Gaelic and English, she encountered the Gaelic tradition at a young age, after her family moved from Lincolnshire in England to the small village of Kinlochewe in Wester Ross. It was her school-teacher there, Meg MacLean, who encouraged Rachel to take her first steps on stage, engaging in Gaeldom’s unique system of artist development – competing at local Mòds and performing at at local cèilidhs. A regular participant at Fèis Rois, she soon fell in love with the songs, language and culture of the Gael.

ROBYN STAPLETON

Scottish singer Robyn Stapleton was awarded BBC Radio Scotland’s Young Traditional Musician of the Year in 2014 and has quickly become one of Scotland’s most sought-after folk singers. With a uniquely pure tone, wonderful control and an empathy and sensitivity for traditional song, she is described as having one of the fines voices in Scottish music. Ross and Ali met at the Vale of Atholl pipe band when they were 12 years old. The boys were guided by one of the most influential pipers in the last 30 years Gordon Duncan.
